Simon Burckhardt
Simon has more than 30 years’ experience in senior leadership roles in the Fibre, Telecoms and Tech sector.
He presently holds several Non-Executive Director (NED) roles including on the board of Magrathea, a UK wholesale operator; bOnline, a connectivity and VoiP provider to the UK SME market; and sits on the council of CCUK.
In the Fibre arena Simon is board advisor to Kelly Communications, where he was previously CEO. Kelly is a Tier 1 contractor building and installing Fibre for Openreach, Virgin Media, City Fibre and Gigaclear. He is also NED at Fibre News and an alternative Director at TOTSCO. Previously he held Managing Director roles at Connexin, the Hull based Altnet, and Vonage (now part of Ericsson) where he managed the UK and international business included providing VoIP services to several of the major UK Fibre Providers.
His career included “C” level roles in international telecoms companies including Telefónica O2, BT, Ooredoo (Qatar Telecom) and MTS, in locations varying from Qatar to Moscow. He also held VP and positions in other tech companies including a Big Data company, a mobile marketing business as well as founding a consultancy with BT colleagues where he undertook consultancy work for the likes of Community Fibre, Zzoomm, and Gamma.
Simon lives in rural Hertfordshire. He has 4 grown up kids and recently a grandson who absorbs a lot of his time!
